Player of the Week – Mornè Steyn
14 October 2012

There must be reason why the South African rugby public fell out of love with Mornè Steyn, but few were obvious on Saturday night as the Vodacom Blue Bulls pivot delivered again on the big stage. Playing in his first match in a month, the flyhalf showed why he was the most prolific point’s machine in test match rugby and currently playing the domestic game in South Africa.

Steyn clearly used his time away from the frontline to recharge his batteries and came back with a dominant display of flyhalf play. He run the cutter with great aplomb, kicked all the kicks when his team needed it, including a great drop goal, defended his channel with great determination and generally played like… well a General.

In short, he looked like the premier South African flyhalf he is.
