There is little doubt about his class. The fact that he has not turned 21 yet, but already played Super Rugby for the Vodacom Bulls, Currie Cup rugby for the Vodacom Blue Bulls and captained the SA Under-20 side in 2011, tells everything there is to know about Arno Botha.
We know already that Bok coach Heyneke Meyer holds the 20-year old loose forward in high regard, and if anyone in Cape Town had any illusions on that call, they should have been at Newlands on Saturday, as the Vodacom Blue Bulls Under-21 side outplayed theirs hosts quite comfortably.
The leading light was Botha’s performance. He ran strongly, defended stoutly and showed why his physical approach to the game is so impressive. He scored a try himself and set-up another with a great run of around sixty metres. Overall, there was nothing that one could fault Botha on the day.
