Player of the Week – Bjorn Basson
15 July 2012

He has already scored some memorable tries in his shortish spell at the Vodacom Bulls, but with his 10th Super Rugby try against the Lions on Saturday, Bjorn Basson also made sure that the record books will not forget this feat either.

Basson’s ten tries is a new franchise record for tries in a season and one better that his efforts in his debut season in 2011, when he scored nine times. With a strike rate like this and providing he stays with the Vodacom Bulls for another couple of seasons, Basson could certainly past Bryan Habana’s record for tries in a career.

Basson have scored his first try of the season against the Cheetahs in week two, scored a brace against the Blues the next weekend and two more in consecutive weekends against the Reds and Stormers.

He also scored twice on tour (Rebels and Brumbies) and twice since the competition started up again after the break of the inbound tours.
