Serfontein change three at Vodacom Blue Bulls
02 March 2010 (22:08)
The Vodacom Blue Bulls coach, Nico Serfontein, made three changes to his team for Friday’s Vodacom Cup clash against the Pumas at Loftus Versfeld.
John Mametsa, Cornell Hess and Zane Botha all earn first starts in the competition.
Mametsa’s release from the Vodacom Bulls allowed Serfontein the luxury of picking the stalwart on the wing. Deon Helberg, the former Middelburg pupil and Pumas Craven Week player, moves one position inside.
Ernst Dinkelman, who played outside centre last week, will get a run off the bench.
Up front a fit again Hess will start in the place of Bêrend Botha, who will also get a run of the bench.
With Henri Bantjes out of action, Botha will start at hooker, with the Tuks hooker, AJ le Roux graduating from Varsity Cup to Vodacom Cup rugby.
Jaco Engels was not considered.
The team is: Tiger Mangweni, Sello Mametsa, Deon Helberg, Stefan Watermeyer, Vainon Willis, Francois Brummer, Ruan Snyman, Gerrit -Jan Van Velze (c), Okkie Kruger, Dries van Schalkwyk, Cornell Hess, Mthunzi Mabeta, Rossouw de Klerk, Zane Botha, Dean Greyling.
Replacements: AJ le Roux, Ivann Espag, Bêrend Botha, Devin Oosthuizen, Danie Faasen, Marnitz Boshoff, Ernst Dinkelmann
