New midfield combination as u.21-side looks to bounce back
28 July 2010 (15:23)
Ernst Dinkelman and Adri Jacobs will combine in the midfield for the first time this season as the Vodacom Blue Bulls u.21-side looks to redeem themselves in the Absa u.21 competition against the Young Lions on Saturday.
The Young Bulls lost their first match of the competition against the Free State last weekend and is looking to bounce back against a Lions side that has not started their season well.
Dinkelman, who played at outside centre last weekend, moves to inside as a replacement to the injured Simphiwe Mtimkulu, while SA u.20 player, Adri Jacobs, moves from the replacement bench to outside centre.
In another change, Danie Faasen will start at scrumhalf after deputising for the Currie Cup side.
Jacques Verwey, who impressed for Tuks in the Carlton league, earned himself a start on the bench.
Coach Nico Serfontein admitted that the close defeat against the Free State served as a wake-up call, something they will need against the Lions.
“The Lions side is much stronger than their log position suggests. They will also play at home for the first time this season, so we expect their tail to be up for us.”
The Vodacom Blue Bulls u.21 side is: Justin van Staden, Deon Helberg, Adri Jacobs, Ernst Dinkelman, Clayton Blommetjies, Marnitz Boshoff (c), Danie Faasen, Jono Ross, Marnus Schoeman, Tendayi Chikukwa, Cornell Hess, Andries Ferreira, Rossouw de Klerk, AJ le Roux, Morne Mellett. Replacements: Robbie Coetzee, Vincent Koch, Peet Vorster, Jacques Verwey, Branco du Preez, JC Roos, Sampie Mastriet.
