Vodacom Bulls boosted by Mapoe and Visagie
01 November 2012

Vodacom Bulls coach Frans Ludeke welcomed the confirmation that Lionel Mapoe and Callie Visagie will be on loan to the Pretoria side for the 2013 Vodacom Super Rugby season. Mapoe, who has just been named as a Springbok tourist for their three test match tour to Ireland, Scotland and England, will join the Vodacom Bulls in December, while Visagie will be part of the pre-season group that will assemble in Pretoria on the 19th of November 2012.

“The fact that Lionel has just been named a Springbok is well-deserved and proof of his abilities. His pace, attacking mindset and versatility will be a tremendous asset to the Bulls in what will again be a very long and taxing season on the players. He will also add depth to our outside backs department,” Ludeke said.

He was also impressed by Visagie this year.

“He will bring a lot of physicality to the pack, but is also a very intelligent rugby player and a good leader. Hooker is a very technical position and to have someone of Callie’s skill and expertise available, will help us a lot.”

Ludeke thanked the MTN Golden Lions for the use of the two players.

“It is clearly being done to benefit the players and that is a very noble thing to do. One can only hope that the experience picked up by being involved with the Vodacom Bulls will benefit all around,” Ludeke said.

@ Muzi what is making me more mad is that I cant log on to those flippin sites from work to tell them what I think of them and to protect and defend the Bulls so I just sit here - especially on Sport 24 and do the thumbs down all the time but it is not enough. I hope all those idiots have to eat their words next year. I cant stand the comments about MS and ZK all the time I just wanna go crazy. GO BULLS !!

@Paarlbul
Agree haha it was a pleasure watching Juan Schoeman,Bongi Mbonambi and Hencus van Wyk dominate fat kebble and the other mountain goats in the scrums.
Neethling Fouche will rattle a few feathers that kid is a beast with the right coaching he could be a n asset for the Bulls.
Wow but how strong is Ulrich Beyers sjoe he was bullying forwards last weekend the lad is a great talent no doubt a rising star.
Concerning Werner he has always struggled with binding that is why i went for Marcell vd Merwer IMHO he could be a force in the scrums plus he's a massive strong lad.
All the tight five needs to do is provide Hougaard front foot ball then our 8,9, and 10 axis will rise to the challenge again.

Muzi @ 6 - a few very young players in your squad - Dries Swanepoel is another name you can add.
Neethling Fouche is U/19 nr 3 - I have not seen him?? - Hencus van Wyk also did well
I still have the feeling that Ulrich Beyers can be a great nr 10 - froget MS and LF
F Hougaard is NOT a kicking scrumhalve and will not stay with Bulls if they continue with kicking game - he was already demoted to bench in Currie cup.
If we want to dominate scrum time then Werner cannot be our 1st choice n3. One of the main reason why the Bulle u/21 won the final = Juan Schoeman absolutely demolished the WP tighthead.

BullsRbest @ 20 - WO always the better nr13 than 12. I am afraid I disagree with you on MS - like I said previously on this blog - if you take goal kicking and Kicking off out then MS is very average.

@ 19 I still have the strongest faith and respect for MS, ZK and WO. To me (yes because I am Blou Bul biased) they are the best around. Just because Morne has had a bit of a slump doesnt mean that he is unable to perform like he has - he is pure class and this will all come back. Look at what happened to Habana and Morne is going to do the same. He is still young and new to both the Boks and the Bulls and he still has a long way to go. Zane is playing like he always does which for me is brilliant rugby and Wynand is one of our best centres. I wouldnt change them for the world and we still need some experience and back up from senior players to help the juniors to settle in.

@ 17 - I know but it really hurt watching all those other monkeys walking away with the awards. I suppose I am getting greedy and spoilt now. Anyway time to look forward to the upcoming year and hope we can show those coastal teams once again who is actually the best rugby team in SA. GO BULLS !!!

Wow was it sore watching those awards last night. Congratulations to Jan Serfontein but to see what we have become was not lekker. From getting all the awards just about every year to not even being nominated for one was such a lousy thing to see. We have to lift outselves up from the loss of all those fantastic players last year - we have the talent to continue our winning streak and good name but watching the Currie Cup final - DO WE HAVE THE PASSION ??

@FRANNABUL
It all starts in the tight five Bulls have struggled in the scrums....our forwards were at times bullied. The 8,9, and 10 axis needs go forward ball.I was watching Spies during the 2009 and 2010 super rugby season he was playing well because the tight five was dominating the collision points.

Bulls and the Lions agreed to a loan deal for Mapoe and Callie that states both of them have to be in the match 22.

Morning gents first of all congrats to coach Nollis Marais and the rest of the Bulls under 21's they played some amazing rugby this year.

We have sound structures, great talent coming through all we need to do is give more young players a chance, keep more ball in hand and stop kicking the bloody ball away.

Frans Ludeke needs to swallow his pride and move on from what worked in the past the game has changed adapt or die!!!!

Kyk na wat Frans spesifiek noem van Mapoe: " His pace, attacking mindset and versatility will be a tremendous asset to the Bulls...". Behalwe as hy regtig so agterlik en dof is as wat sommige hier op die blog wil afmaak, beteken dit vir my dat Frans regtig die bal-in-hand benadering in sy arsenaal oorweeg...

Ek hoop regtig ek is reg...
