Voltbet: Now we look to the future…
25 October 2012

For some the 2012 Currie Cup season was a good show stopping one, but for others it was a dismal experience that will want to be quickly forgotten. Although this is how the supporters are feeling, it is hard to imagine how the players must be feeling, to put your body and soul into a game and not get the wanted results. This is what rugby is about, the great unforgettable games and the not so great, never to be thought of again games.

Looking back, this Currie Cup season may have been the toughest and most gut wrenching that the Vodacom Blue Bulls have ever experienced. Faced with many injuries, food poisoning and sickness, they still managed to go beyond their means and qualify for the semifinals. The semifinal game against the Sharks didn’t go as planned, losing 20-3 was a major upset and one that was not expected.

The Bulls will now be licking their wounds with Wilhelm Steenkamp and Jacques Potgieter undergoing surgery, Jan Serfontein, Dawie Steyn and Dewald Potgieter have all suffered injuries resulting in them being out of action from 6-12 weeks. And then there is Pierre Spies and Deon Stegmann who weren’t part of the Currie Cup clashes due to injuries sustained.

The Vodacom Blue Bulls will now look to the new rugby season, some of their players will be joining the Springboks for the Outgoing Tour against Ireland, Scotland and England while others carry on with normal training.

Even though the Currie Cup Season did not turn out as they would have liked, the Vodacom Blue Bulls will Never Give Up and Never Give in. They will come back stronger and hungrier next season with the full backing of all their supporters.

Here at Voltbet we look forward to interacting with the greatest supporters rugby has to offer, sharing great moments with our clients and being part of the 2013 Season with the Vodacom Blue Bulls.

Dit het gese dat "Our team was the best on paper, but then the game was played on grass."

In elk geval ek dink Pine se dae by bulle is getel as hoofafrigter van curriebekerspan.

Was vanoggend by 'n ontbyt praatjie deur Jurie Roux bygewoon deur oa Johan Ackerman Pote Humann Pine Pienaar ens ens. Hyself is 'n Paarl Gim WP mannetjie so go figure.

Terug by Pine.

Go jong BULLE! GO GO GOOO!!!

Dis skitterend. Kan dit nou lekker wees as 3 WP spanne Saterdag verloor. My tone krul sommer om!!

When was the last time the union only had 1 player nominated in ALL the categories for player of the year awards?
Is it perhaps a true reflection of whats happening at the union?

Not sure what the future holds, but a few interesting shifts in focus over the last months...

One thing for sure is that the favorites for the SA conference winners next year must surely be the Sharks and not the Stormers as was probably the case this year. I reckon the focus has shifted and that the Stormers had their chance and did not take it... But then again who knows if they can just get the injury problem contained...

The Bulls on the other hand can only get better next year if they have a stable management team that only focuses on their games and other nigglies in the player front that are now of the past, like at least three of the players having their first-borns arrive in the year, etc.

My wish-list is to get a proper coaching structure sorted with defence, attack, scrums and to some extent line-outs being properly looked at. Conditioning was not bad this year, so hopefully that stays on par for next year. Add to that a tweak in the game-plan to allow the hordes of x-factor and open play candidates in the player corps the opportunity to really show what they can do. Then we will be ready!!!

Then who knows: two dogs can fight over the bone (Sharks and Stormers) and the third gets away with it (The Bulls) and Conference Trophy in the Loftus cupboard! This is not the final goal, but would go miles towards getting the final goal sorted of Super 15 trophy also in the Loftus cupboard.
